Steps To Start Over

Just because it takes longer than you want doesn't mean it's not happening. Trust the process. You know and at some point, in your life, you might have heard someone say, “It's Too Late to Start Over” This is how my life is going to be now. Sometimes we feel so stuck that we start to believe there's no way forward. Well, throw these negative thoughts out to the wind because it's never actually too late to start over. The fact that it's taking too long or feels like you're stuck doesn't mean it's game over. Here are some steps to Start Over.

Accept The Past To Start Over

There's the thing unless you have the power to control time which I’m guessing you do not there's really nothing you can do to change the past. So, fixating and thinking about it all the time would do nothing but fill you with regret and this regret will in turn make it difficult for you to face the present. Rather than sit down and wallow in the events of your past remember there's nothing you can do to change it you just have to learn from it and let it go. The past is the past and what matters now is the present and the future therefore focus on the things you can change and accept the reality of your history and forgive yourself. Come on, everyone makes mistakes big and small, but you've got to stop beating yourself up over it. You've got to learn and move on.

Reflecting On What Went Wrong In The Past

Now, this is the only positive side of your past experiences. It usually comes with a lesson a new experience and an opportunity to make yourself a better person. It's important to sit back look at everything that happened in the past and assess the situations to discover what went wrong then when you do make a conscious effort to make sure that it doesn't happen ever again. Your past experiences also offer an opportunity to see things from an outside perspective. You can see clearly how you should have approached a certain task or a goal and then make sure you do it the right way next time.

Identify Your Goals to Start Over

One of the most effective ways to start over is to properly identify your goals. We sometimes tend to not properly define our goals which in turn could affect how quickly we achieve them. Remember that specificity is one of the main qualities of an achievable goal, which means your goals must be clearly defined. Identifying your goals will also help you to see the changes that you have to make to improve your life. To get started you can write down your goals in a journal and then separate them into long-term and short-term cases. Next, you create a clear-cut set of tasks that will succeed for each goal. This way you haven't only defined your goals you've also created a series of defined tasks that when completed will lead to inevitable success.  Pro tip always reminds yourself of these goals every morning and you'll see how motivated this will make you feel.

Find Out What's Working And What's Not

We feel the need to start over the fact that certain things aren't working but most times we don't even know exactly what. Here's where it gets tricky. How do you fix a problem when you have no idea what's causing it? Fortunately, the human mind is so brilliant all it needs to fix this problem is a few minutes of reflection every day. To understand what could be going wrong take some time every day to reflect on every single activity that led you up to that point and see which of these activities needs improvement or adjustment. In fact, you can adopt an entirely new routine especially if you discover that your entire routine needs a revamp. Most importantly if this doesn't work out don't feel down on yourself. Missteps are a necessary part of growth instead see them as a vital learning opportunity because just like you guessed it you won't make the same mistake again.

Leave Your Comfort Zone to Start Over

Here's one that requires a little bit of discomfort but leaving your comfort zone is perhaps one of the most important ways to start over. Try something new do something that you normally wouldn't do and try out some new experiences because outside of your comfort zone is where the growth happens. Did you even know that trying new things is a sure way to stimulate brain activity? This leads to improved creativity and motivation, but you know what's even better new experiences fill you with a renewed sense of purpose and you never know this new path might just be the right one.

Give Yourself A Pat On The Back

When you try out new things, naturally, you'd struggle with them, and this struggle could make it seem like you're not improving in the slightest sense. That's a lie you shouldn't believe. Your progress might be slow but that doesn't mean it's not happening to give yourself some credit for how far you've come. You've been doing an awfully great job and you deserve a pat on the back for that. Encouraging yourself will help you to build self-esteem and it'll push you to want to become better. Remember to keep track of your progress and acknowledge how far you've come every time you feel the urge to give up.

Take A Break To Start Over

If you're a robot who doesn't need to rest and recharge, then this doesn't apply to you but you're not a robot you're a human being with feelings and emotions, and taking a break should definitely be a part of your starting over the process. Taking a break isn't giving up not even close. Taking a break helps you to disconnect for a while and keep going. It helps you to see how far you've come how far you've got to go and importantly a break fills you with a sense of peace and quiet and this is important for self-evaluation and assessment. Breaks are essential for us as humans rest and recharge that's the mantra.

Expect Setbacks

Is there a human being somewhere in the world who can boast of never experiencing a setback no matter how little? We don't think so, setbacks are a necessary part of life, and they happen to everyone including individuals who are looking to start over. Perhaps starting over for you means getting a new job or moving to a new country. Whatever, it is you must understand that it's totally normal to feel anxious or scared about this move or worried that you would experience setbacks. However, the one thing you should remember is this. Do not allow these factors to hold you back. The second thing to remember doesn’t allow these factors to drive you. You should be driven by your goals and nothing else, not mistakes not setbacks, or fear but your goals.

Gain A Fresh Perspective

If you want to break free from your current situation you've got to change your perspective on how you see things. Have you ever stopped to wonder why you keep failing at something? Could it be because you think of your limitations in a certain way or because you approach tasks from the same perspective? Gaining a fresh perspective allows you to explore from an entirely new point of view and who knows you might just discover something that will change the tide of your life.

Recognize The Challenges

Challenges can be daunting and extremely difficult to tackle but let's look at it like this. Will challenges be this difficult if you learn beforehand that you would be facing them? Not. Take for instance you and your friends are camping in a forest known for its population of snakes now these snakes are bound to be a challenge to you and your friends but knowing about them beforehand means you can prepare yourself against attacks. Simply put this is how life works. If you identify the challenges, you faced last time you're more equipped to face them the second time you try to keep better track of these challenges write them down, and come up with three to four possible solutions. This way you have a strong understanding of the problem and exactly how you can fix it.

Remember Your Values

Your values define you as a person but does this mean that your values cannot change? Not. When you make the decision to start over it's equally as important that you identify your values and see if you might need to make some changes as you identify your values also use this opportunity to check in with your priorities. Have they changed over the years or are they still pretty much the same do they matter as much as they did before? The answers to these questions will help you define your priorities.

Make The Decision To Start Over

At this point, you've identified what went wrong the challenges you faced your values and priorities, and what you need to do to start over. Here's where you need to make life-changing decisions. Is it a new job a new country an entirely different field whatever it is you must make the conscious decision to go for it. It could also be that starting over presents you with a few choices and in making a decision you should remember that you must choose a path that's in line with or similar to your values and something that's an upgrade from the last plan. Also, choosing to do a certain thing isn't set in stone if it doesn't work out or feel right to you. You have the chance to start over once again this time differently.

Find A Mentor

It's totally fine to admit that you can't go through life on your own. It's fine to accept the fact that you need someone to teach and guide you. Even the greatest leaders were students at one point. No matter what your situation is. There's a huge chance that somebody's been in a similar situation which is why having mentors is an important part of starting over. Your mentor could be someone who's achieved everything you've ever dreamed of or someone you believe understands the circumstances of your situation and who has overcome this in the past. Having a mentor provides you with guidance motivation and someone to who you can be accountable in case you're thinking they must be someone you already know your mentors can be in fact anyone you deem fit to guide you through the restarting process. If you want to hasten the process of finding a mentor, you can reach out to a life coach or start with a simple google search and find one close to you in minutes.

Be Positive

Starting over can be challenging but it wouldn't help if you approach it with a negative mentality. Instead, see it as a hopeful adventure into the unknown with a smile of confidence plastered on your face. Be positive tell yourself that things are going to turn out fine because they will and all you have to do is keep trying keep going and success will be yours just give it a little bit more time.

Set New Goals

starting over means setting new goals and making active plans to pursue them. Setting goals gives you a sense of direction in your sojourn and so having a clear sense of where you want to be will increase your performance. Starting over shouldn't be this impossible adventure. If most people think it is who says we can't turn things around?

Take Action To Start Over

at this point, you're back from the drawing board and you've made your important decisions the next and final step is to take action just go for it. Go with a positivity-filled mindset and you are sure to reach the stars.
